2018 saw a step change in the level of attention and funding mechanisms for supporting innovation and growth in the UK’s construction industry.  With the publication of the Construction Sector Deal and the establishment of the Transforming Construction programme as part of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF), the foundations for a number of key developments to support the ongoing progression of Design, Manufacturing and Digital Adoption within the industry are now in place.  Additionally, the first round of funding awards from a series of UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) competitions have been selected, including from Innovate UK’s Manufacturing Better Buildings competition.

2019 presents a major opportunity for businesses, universities and research organisations, and public sector clients of construction in Scotland to raise their level of involvement, collaborate and compete with UK peers to benefit from these initiatives and competitions.

Speakers will include:

Innovate UK: The UK’s Innovation agency funds business and research collaborations to accelerate innovation and drive business investment into research and development.

Network Plus: This initiative seeks to unite academic researchers with industry and policy representatives through networking and skills-building events, creating a new community and body of knowledge to inform future construction policy and practice.

Active Building Centre: A National Centre of Excellence in partnership with industry, academia and Government, proving scalable solutions to enable an industry to deploy Active Buildings en masse.

Bryden Wood: An integrated Design and Operations Consultancy for the built environment and the author of “Delivery Platforms for Government Assets: Creating a Marketplace for Manufactured Spaces”

With more to be confirmed soon.

This event is free to attend with online registration on a first-come-first -served basis.
